Atomic Wasteland, Sentient Forest, Alien Ocean
‘Fuck You’ Graffitied Across the Wall
My first M-rated game was Fallout 3. I cried when I finished that game. Not because the game was particularly sad, but because I knew I could never go back and play that game again.
After years of begging for a PS4, my parents got me a PS3. I wanted Fallout 4 but it wasn’t compatible with the PS3, so I settled for Fallout 3. The graphics sucked, even for 2016.
And my mom. She wasn’t sure how graphic this game was, so she watched me play it. Of course, she watched the worst part. My player character entered a building I knew was filled with raiders- post-apocalyptic baddies. But I didn’t know they had littered the floor with mines.
My character exploded into a million little pieces. The camera focused on one piece in particular as the chunk rolled down the stairs. There, at the bottom of the stars, written in blood: FUCK YOU.
My mother was shocked. Never had she been so repulsed in her entire life. And just as she’d given me the game, she took it away.
I begged. And begged. And pleaded. After a few days of my nonstop pleading, and my verbal promise that I would never actually kill anyone in real life (I’m the type of person to spare the scariest of spiders), my mom returned the game to me, albeit begrudgingly.
I recently played Fallout: New Vegas, and I never learn. Never look at the floor. I never even think that mines might be on my path. Now, though, my mom watches me play with glee. She is horrified, yes, but only because I’m so goddamn bad.
2. The Sun Sets; I’m Completely Fucked
The setting sun casts its orange light on the forest. Soon this crooked forest will consume everything. Already, it’s taken highways and villages for its own. In these villages, infected humans lay dying. Some infected humans keep their sanity, but not their human image. And some still lose both mind and body to the forest. The player character, a human who has managed to keep his sanity and his self despite the forest’s universal plague, sprints home. There, he pulls a dresser in front of one of the doors, starts the generator, and hides in a corner gripping tightly his rifle.
When the sun sets, the infected come. First, they knock on doors. They peep through windows. Then they grow more violent. They tear down barricades and search the homes for the man inside.
Darkwood is a hit-or-miss game for most. I love it through and through. The infected forest is beautiful. The infected people, not so much, but I enjoy screaming and running from them as fast as my poor player character can.
I fell in love with this game during the first night I played. A knocking at my door startled me, but I continued hiding in my corner, and, eventually, whoever was knocking roamed away. The lore of the game is wonderful, as I discovered when I met the Wolf Man. The plague touched him so that he transformed into a bipedal wolf, with the appetite to boot.
The monsters are horrifying. Knowing that they are- or were- people is worse. Chompers were the bane of my existence while I played this game, and I ran every time I saw one. They are infected people who split down the middle to their chests. This made room for a large mouth of teeth.
I have days worth of time invested into this game.
But I cannot finish it.
I don’t want a repeat of Fallout 3 ever again, so I never finish games I really love. When I feel Darkwood’s end drawing near, I delete my save file and start anew.
3. Discovering I Have Thallassophobia
I love games, but I am not good at them. I have to play most shooters on easy because I have the aim of a drunk Stormtrooper. Subnautica is no different.
I love the ocean. Before Batman came along, it and mythology had been my hyper-fixations. I still know way too much about yeti crabs and other deep-sea life. While no longer a hyper fixation, the deep oceans are still fixations.
I want to live at the bottom of the ocean. I dream not of whale song, but of bone worms swaying in the current. Before I get started on the real oceans, though, let me introduce Subnatuica.
Subnautica is a first-person adventure game set on an alien planet made completely of water. Your goal is to get off the planet while avoiding being eaten by an apex predator along the way, or being picked off by those annoying little crabs. It focuses on adventure and base building, but I didn’t care about either of those.
I wanted to see the creatures. Specifically, the creatures in the deep dark. So, as soon as I had the necessary resources, I vowed, I would travel to the abyss and gather information on every lifeform there.
That never happened. Again, I’m awful at games.
Worse, it wasn’t even an apex predator that kept killing me- or even those crabs. It was dehydration. Water was all around me, but not the drinkable kind. And I had no idea how to get water so I kept dying.
I gave up sooner rather than later and watched every Youtuber play Subnautica I could. Despite having never been to the abyss myself, I have seen through others the creatures that live there, and they are just as strange and fascinating as the deep-sea animals in real life.
Biolumenisent predators. Long-legged crabs. And sapient creatures that, unlike dolphins (who I fully believe to be as intelligent as humans, unfortunately) aren’t completely fucked up in the head.
And, again, watching the ending of this game, I cried.

Alien Hominid HD - Return of a Classic
Alien Hominid HD is a rerelease of the game of the same name, primarily using the Xbox 360 version as a base. This means that for people revisiting the game, they will not experience the original space/ending cutscene music from the PS2/GC versions of the game, and other changes from the 360 version will persist in this version of Alien Hominid. Note that there is no online co-op functionality whatsoever, not even for PDA Games which formerly had online co-op support in the 360 version. Co-op will only work if multiple controllers are present, so there cannot be a mix of one keyboard, one controller player in co-op without having a second controller. Unfortunately, despite being a rerelease, not very many changes have happened between the original 360 HD version and this version. While preserving the old spirit of the original is good, I was hoping at least that the non-HD music tracks or adding an option for only one roll keybind instead of two keybinds/buttons would be added. While keybinds can be made playable enough where I earned all achievements with keyboard and mouse, controller still feels overall smoother even after I tried rebinding my controls primarily because of the two separate roll buttons.
In terms of new technical additions, the main differences are that the max framerate can now be up to 480 FPS and up to 4k resolution support. There is also a launcher that appears while starting up the game, which while mostly pointless, also does not significantly impact the experience overall.
Alien Hominid throughout the years has aged fairly well overall, given that it is effectively a Flash game given the content of a full release. While controls are a bit clunky, shooting FBI agents and the like still feels satisfying, and unleashing a charged shot on bosses always feels satisfying. Levels are different enough where you always feel like there is something fresh in each new level, and bosses never feel like they are insurmountable for long. The artstyle, given that this was The Behemoth’s first console release, is very much reminiscent of Adobe Flash, and I really like it even today. That being said, some people may not like that type of artstyle or gameplay, which is understandable. One thing that I am not a huge fan of is how fast the normal attack can be shot, which can feel extremely spammy and is used a lot in speedruns, which is essentially the main replay value of Alien Hominid.
Earning 100% achievements is a fairly fast task. I completed the game in 9 hours, and some of that time was spent messing around with settings or in co-op where I was not actively making progress on achievements. Two achievements of note that differ from the 360 version are Survivalist, which requires 10 minutes instead of the original 20, and Head Chomper, which now requires 10 consecutive head bites instead of 50. These changes make earning all achievements noticeably easier. Some achievements I recommend keeping an eye out for is Hungry Yeti, which I think might actually require the kills be in one game, and Perfect Fight, which requires beating the final boss without a continue and thus, fighting the boss on friendly while doing that achievement is recommended. For some more specific achievements, I personally used level 2-1 for Head Chomper, where I camped the outpost, Urban Challenge for Survivalist by staying in cars and charged shooting enemy cars, and camping on top of the first 3-3 computer for Killing Spree, as it is a safe spot for farming 1,000 kills.
Minigame wise, the offerings are just like that of Alien Hominid 360 HD. Of particular note is PDA Games, which are platforming minigames where the objective is killing all agents and reaching the exit. The content offered in them matches the 360 release with all DLC pre-included, so no additional purchase is required for all the content. There is no level editor for PDA games unlike the PS2/GC releases, and there is no longer online support for it in this version. Some other minigames include guiding a soviet missile and having it travel as far as possible, and a minigame somewhat like volleyball that requires another player and is effectively the only PvP mode included.
Even after 19 years, Alien Hominid still holds up well enough that I can recommend it at full price for people that have not played it before. That being said, if you do not like how the first level feels, you probably will not like the game as a whole.

This is a ref sheet as to how I draw Rose. The bio for her (the main one anyway) is this:
"Rose is an all-powerfull sorceress from the Dark Ages who, like Citron FAR after her, traveled through time, forward in her case, in order to prevent an event she witnessed in one of her visions: a Zombie-controlled future. She's a tricky threat for zombies to deal with, all thanks to her homing Magic thistles and the ability to turn them into goats and time-snare a zombie long enough to deal the final blow, esspecially her Arcane Enigma, a powerful form she takes in order to destroy any zombie in her path. She's best friends with Sun Pharoah, due to both being of royalty, and L.E.A.F. agents Citron and Kernal Corn. Due to being in royalty, she can get annoyed with any kind of shenanigans, but can tolerate them thanks to her level-headedness."
As for the rest of the Roses, here are their bios:
1. Fire Rose's schorching body is so powerfull that not only did she once set Crazy Dave's garage on fire, but her Schorching Scepter is very effective against an ENTIRE squadron of Zomboss' finest. Despite her power, she feels very down, all because she can't touch anything without it being set ablaze (except her scepter). The good news, though, is that fighting zombies allways reminds her that she has a purpose.
2. While Fire Rose is one of the most powerfu plants against zombies, Frost Rose is one of the most feared towards zombies, all thanks to a victory she achieved at a battle she won with the help of her noble steed and close friend, the majestic Yeti Chomper; even a mere whisper of it makes zombies shaking in their boots. Frost Rose may be cold (literally and figeratively), she has a warm heart towards the plants, although she shows absolutley NO mercy towards zombies.
3. Druid Rose may fail to scare anyone with her mask, even though she tries and fails miserably every time, esspecially on Halloween, but it does help her convince the zombies to thinking she's a harmless tree. Because she likes to scare people, she can be a bit mischevious, and persistent on that aspect as well.
4. Party Rose was enjoying a rockin' nightime party like a wild animal, AND enjoying it, like anyone else would, until, and for some unknown reason, she ended up in what plants and zombies called "Infinity Time", where she encountered 2 other party plants, Party Citron and Party Corn. With Party Corn's musical talent, she was able to get Party Citron to party hard enough to send him back home. However, this also sent the other 2 back home as well. There's never a dull moment with Party Rose (who's the youngest and most recent of the Roses), whose Party Thistle fireworks routinely keep the plant forces partying well past their bedtimes. She even threw the celebration party for when the Plants won the Battle for Zomburbia.
5. Nec'Rose wields the energy of vanquished plants through an ancient art known as necro-plant-cy by which she renders the defenses of zombies useless. She is also feared by weilding her Arcane Lotus, an altered version of the Arcane Enigma that can heals plants around her. She was one of the plant captians angainst the zombies during the Battle for Zomburbia. During that time, she allied with Commando Corn, another plant captain, during what appeared to be an endless assault on Frontline Flats. During her vacations, she enjoys smoothies and long walks on the beach, just like Sun Pharoah, her vacation buddy. Also, her favorate color is purple.
Boy, has it been a while since I've done this. But I'm happy to be back at it.

By using this guide, you agree to hold Plants vs. Zombies Wiki harmless in the event that damage is done to your copy of the game, your device s , or anything else that is pertinent. Please note, hacking on iOS or Android by jailbreaking or rooting the device will make your device void from any support from Apple or Google. Such actions cannot usually be undone. Jailbreak or root at your own risk. Zombies Wiki cannot and will not support hacks that unlock paid content such as premium plants, bundles, premium packs, or gems for free in Plants vs. Zombies 2 , its Chinese version , Plants vs. Zombies Heroes , or any other game not mentioned. This moratorium also applies to hacks that attempt to cheat in Multiplayer in Plants vs. Any hacks present for these games on Wiki grounds will not be tolerated, are punished by an indefinite block of the user who published it, and are to be removed immediately. Hacking Plants vs. Zombies Heroes can lead to an account ban to your Facebook or EA account. Zombies Wiki cannot be held responsible for one hacking Plants vs. Zombies Heroes and getting banned for following a hack for the game present on Wiki space. Please note that some of these hacks will not work on the Steam or Origin version of Plants vs. This may not also work for modified Plants vs. Zombies that affect gameplay or more features. Examples include PvZ: Plus or etc,. This hack is for the impatient hacker. This hack removes the recharge time for your seed packets, allowing you to plant them as often as you want. Wall-nut Bowling , if a Newspaper Zombie is hit with a Wall-nut , the newspaper will not disappear but if you use an Explode-o-nut or a Giant Wall-nut , it will die. This makes the plants so weak, one bite is enough to kill them, making it good for a challenge or as a cheat for all the I, Zombie levels. This can make zombies unkillable. However, Chompers can kill them. This is a good cheat for I, Zombie levels. NOTE : This cheat is not recommended outside of the I, Zombie levels, as this cheat can make the other levels unbeatable unless you have Chompers. It provides no protection against other ways of damaging or destroying plants, such as from Zombonis, Catapult Zombies, Gargantuars and Dr. To make plants invulnerable to their peas, see below. Plants cannot be hit by Peashooter Zombie and Gatling Pea Zombie's peas regardless of the plant's height. This applies to both mini-games ZomBotany 1 and 2. Your first match will make the trophy appear. This applies to both mini-games Beghouled and Twist. Special: If your plants grow in mature levels, if you choose the previous day, its level is still the same. In this mini-game, the player must dig up Wall-nuts to find seven squirrels. However, there is a Zombie also in one of the Wall-nuts. Usual play, but the top and bottom lanes cannot be planted on but zombies will still enter those lanes. A game that is supposed to take place in the snow and Zombie Yeti would appear. Unfortunately, it is unplayable. Usual play, unable to see in stormy weather Same as Level , but the plants and zombies are different. Please visit Modify Plants vs. Warning: If Plants vs. Zombies Cheats program is open, the arrow keys will not work on any other things. Close the program to allow arrow keys to work for other programs. Please visit the plant transformations. NOTE: Sometimes this hack make the color of zombies change into Imitater color, but only the first time. Please visit User File Format. Survival: Endless can be played in different areas by renaming saved file. No need to use Cheat Engine. This cheat allows you to play Survival: Endless on the Roof during nighttime. There are two known methods of doing so. This method will make it a lot faster to play Survival: Endless on the Roof while it is nighttime. However, you need Cheat Engine. If you want to see the guide in video, watch this video. Last Stand Endless can be played on the PC version by modifying a saved file of Survival: Endless to Last Stand after flag 11 but only the zombies in the Last Stand mini-game will appear and the same choice of plants will be used in every round. Alternatively, you can use Cheat Engine. Do what you would do above but change the value 13 to You will be in Last Stand automatically. Play Zombie Nimble Zombie Quick. Open Cheat Engine, enable speed hack, and adjust it to 0. Play the game at normal speed. Play any level, and open Cheat Engine and make sure "Enable Speedhack" is checked. Set the speed to 2. And you can play Zombie Nimble Zombie Quick anywhere! How to see almanac entries of "hidden" plants and zombies in Plants vs. This will make instant-use plants e. Cherry Bomb or Ice-shroom explode immediately after planted or woken up with Coffee Bean. You will be able to choose any seed packs, even exclusive ones for mini-games the landing result in a normal game and in a I zombie may differ. I zombie more stable in the quality of planting, so I advise you to test the numbers here. Note: It's recommended you do not choose any level that starts you in Pool, Fog, or Roof due to the game not letting you plant on the tiles. Zombies Wiki Explore. Main Premium Chinese.
